At the Edge of the Field is a weekend
retreat designed to reconnect and
romance your creative muse. You are
invited to the wellspring of creativity, to
slow down, fill your bucket, and see what
reveals itself in image, words, and beauty.
Come for the inspiration and the pleasure
of having time and space to create.
Set on a ranch in the Similkameen Valley,
at a lodge that sparks the essence
of Yellowstone, the retreat offers a
spacious, lightly held field for artists,
writers, crafters, and photographers to
engage with nature, stillness, and their
own creative process. The weekend
offers time without pressure to move
through artist block or refresh yourself
with new ways of seeing. Come with
a project already underway or arrive
open to discover what's ready to
emerge. All levels of art making, writing,
crafting, and photography are welcome.
A variety of art materials will be available
for free-wheeling exploration, alongside
optional reflective activities and
creative journals with prompts suited for
embodied creators of all types. There's
no expectation or pressure to perform,
produce, or share. The emphasis is
on presence, orientation to self, and
the quiet wisdom that arises within
the community that creates together.
This is not a therapy retreat. It is a
facilitated creative space held with care,
intention, and respect for individual
process, grounded in creative practice,
land-based reflection, and
group presence.

MAY 15-17 RETREAT

Helping professionals spend their days holding space for others. Listening deeply, offering guidance, and supporting people through moments of challenge and growth. Yet the meaningful work of caring for others can also be demanding, often leaving little time to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the deeper purpose that first drew us to this path.
This two-day retreat, set in the natural beauty of Manning Park, offers helping professionals an opportunity to step away from the pace of their work and reconnect with the inner sources that sustain meaningful practice. Surrounded by forest and mountain landscapes, participants are invited to slow down, breathe, and rediscover a sense of presence and balance.
The retreat gently weaves together forest immersion, expressive arts exploration, and guided reflective dialogue. Time in nature supports restoration and quiet reflection, while creative experiences offer space to explore insight and renewal—no artistic experience required. Guided conversations provide an opportunity to reflect on the deeper questions that arise in helping professions, including how to sustain compassion, creativity, and authenticity over time.
Rather than focusing on new techniques or professional skills, this retreat offers something equally important: space to pause and reconnect with the foundations of meaningful helping work.
Those who hold space for others also need places where they themselves can be supported, restored, and reoriented to the deeper sources of their work.
